Ellen is a USATF Certified Level 2 Endurance/Athletic Coach, and works as the Outdoor Fitness Coach and specialist the Vail Vitality Center. She is the Coach/Manager of the US Women’s Mountain Running Team, who won the World Championships in Italy in 2012. In 2002, she was voted Colorado Sportswoman of the Year for longevity and achievement in athletics. She is the only American woman to climb Mt. Everest from both Nepal and Tibet 2 (1 of 5 women in the world) and she works guiding treks and climbs in the Himalaya. Ellen has also climbed other Himalayan 8000-meter peaks Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Manaslu, and most recently, 26,980 ft. Nuptse in 2013, completing the Everest Trilogy.
She is a 20+ year Vail Valley resident, a community she values deeply. She is founder the The Climb for Literacy, and the race director for The Vail Mountain Winter Uphill. Both of these events benefit non-profit organizations. Ellen has a results-based proven methodology, and she takes pride in helping people at any ability level reach their potential in fitness. As a bi-lateral hip replacement recipient, she supports and encourages other aging athletes to continue their pursuit of passion in sports.
